“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
John 6:35 NIV

Needs of the poor are best met with a participatory approach. We need to do life WITH people in poverty giving them hope. Doing FOR people in poverty reinforces helplessness. With Jesus, no one is helpless. We want to serve others with a potluck approach rather than a soup kitchen. Everyone has gifts, talents, and strengths that can help others.

We are starting Soul Soup as a part of the Bread of Life Initiative. We will be having lunch on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month starting in February. With the first one being on January 20th from 12-1 PM.
This will be a opportunity to get to know the people sitting across the table from us. We will be cooking with one another, setting up with one another, eating with one another, and cleaning up with one another.
We hope to create an intersection among people in our community to get to know each other outside of their societal class, and come to know Jesus deeper in the process.
On the 4th Sunday of March through November we have a Service Sunday. On those Sundays we will have an abbreviated Worship Service (30 Minutes) and then either go out and serve our community or teach practical life classes among our body.
During Service Sundays we may help a family that needs a tree branch from falling on their vehicles. A few people may pressure wash some chairs and tables. Other people in the congregation may attend a Laundry class, a Cooking class, or learn how to change a tire. While the kids may learn different skills such as how to make a bed and organize their toys.
Our Next Service Sunday will be after the winter, in March. We hope to see you there!
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Taking care of our neighbors makes for a stronger community. Looking out for one another ensures a safer and happier neighborhood. When we all do a little, we can do so much!
